    US Citizenship is valuable. Never ever think of cancelling it any time. There are plenty of jobs available in USA for skilled programmers. Only thing is patience and perseverence in your job hunt.I do not want to comment your removal of job as there might be multiple reasons not necessarily skill. There are some jobs which require US Citizenship those will have less compettion. Also you need train yourself for the skills which are hot in the market. Job hunting is always challenging even if you have excellent skills and market is good.

    In India also US citizenship is valuable as employers will give some preference as you can travel USA and some other countries easily.

    Hello, I think I made a mistake. I recently went from GC to citizenship and it cost me my job. I was
    fired shortly after becoming a citizen. I am from a country other than yours. Sorry about that. There is no particular website that represents immigration from the country I immigrated from.

    The employer replaced me with a visa card holder. After I trained him, I was fired and my boss was fired.

    I am a skilled programmer with advanced degree. Employers from the dice.com website refuse to even acknowledge my resumes. Being unemployed is no way to be a new citizen. So I am ready to give up searching and move to India,in search of programming work. All I want to do is write code. I do not desire to make a point or to annoy anyone, I just want to work and write source code and try to get on with my life.


    What are my chances to find work with the giant IT corporations of India? I am ready to move today. Can I revoke my US citizenship and immigrate to your country??? Sorry sorry sorry if this offends anyone, I do not mean to annoy any of you. I just want to have a job and write code and I will be on my way.

    As far as my understanding goes, EB1/2/3 is fairly recent, 15-20 year pehnomemon. As such getting examples of people who have been extremely successful post getting the visa is going to be difficult. Even for Harvard reunions, usually it is only at the 25th reunion (among a few thousand people) that you have some very successful people, in a 10-15 year span, getting extremely successful(to have your name in newspapers every other day) is like a 1 in 100,000 chance. Even with EB1s.

    per-country limit in any calendar quarter in which overall applicant
    demand for Employment-based visa numbers is less than the total of
    such numbers available.

    Why remove the cap when the demand is less? Shouldnt it be the other way around?

    I don't think the data is right, though I can see my Labor filed under PERM and it shows status as 'Denied' but I have my labor approved and applied for I-140. Not sure why?

    is a TB skin test neccessary even if you tell the doc you've had a history of positive TB tests? do i have to prove i've had a history of postive TB test for the doctor to remark that on i-693..or can he just remark that without evidence and go on my word

    Your chest xray was negative so you are fine.
    To file for the 485 the skin test is a requirement. The doc has to prick you on your arm and in 48 hours you have the results.

    You need him to sign off on the results.

    So the bulletin from Mumbai consulate was accurate after all. I am gald that there is some movement forward, but I will be even more happier if the processing dates at Nebraska will move forward faster :D

    been in pittsburgh for 8 yrs.license renewal no problem at pittsburgh downtown office.
    need letter from employer and h1,thats it.
    go to a different office or talk to the suprevisor.

    You really need to provide the contract letter that has been asked for. I can't think of any work around to this. It is becoming increasingly common to reject H1 for consultants working at client site where they are not managed by their employer.

    Let's forget about the visa numbers. My P.D. is Jan'02 (EB3-India :( )and I am not expecting any movement significant movement for the next 4-6 months.

    A small correction - the notice sent by IRS did not mention that my filing status was changed from "married filing jointly" to "married filing separately" or "filing single". The notice says that

    "We didn't allow your spouse's personal exemption because your spouse's:

    Last name doesn't match our records or the records provided by the Social Security Administration.

    Is your question about Approved 140 or Pending 140.
    I am also curious to know.
    As far as I know, employer has to just send a letter to USCIS with the 140 receipt number which states that they want to revoke it and USCIS will locate the file with 485 and revoke it too.
    Bad but what can we do ???????

    US experience won't count much unless you are from fortune 500 company. These days anyone even with Aptech certificate can get a chance to come and work in USA on L visa for short assignments. So if your experience is in a desi consulting firm, I do not think your resume will be attractive.

    The figures shown are all looking good for experienced people in good companies. But it is not easy to get jobs as senior people in top companies. Also remember you have to work much more than you work here. You also have to work on Saturdays in a lot of companies. If your clients are in USA you may also need work in the night too to interact with your people in USA. Also remember in small companies you rarely get to do cutting edge world class work or new idea or planning. You will hardly learn or get special trainings.

    I was reading this thread and found something that I haven't found here also. In US also I haven't found any companies give much exposure to consultants for world class work or new idea or planning. I also haven't found any companies that provide special training to the consultants.
    Fortune 500 companies may be an exception though from the above.
    What I feel is it all depends on the individual how much of exposure one can get regardless where s/he is working. Technology is seamless and it is available from anywhere.

    I agree with GC007. I have just been through a similar situation. My previous stamp was expiring on jan 21 07 and had gotten an extension upto 20010. I made trip to India this past december (2006) and was told by my lawyer to get the new visa stamped in India. This is because the new I-94 that you get with the extension has to be surrendered when you leave the country and on reentry you get a new I-94. That will be only valid upto the date stamped on ur passport and there is a rule that with regard to I-94, the last action takes precedence on previous actions.

    This was for my H1 and my Spouse's H4 visa.

    I would suggest to go with EAD and AP for spouse as its better then H1B.

    You don't have to stick one employee if spouse has EAD and she doesn't need to find job in perticular field if she has EAD...

    But for you, I would say just use H1B as long as you can.

    i concur. i'm applyin for ead and ap for her. When the time comes, she wont use ap to enter. but for now.. what the heck..thanks guys

    Maybe he should volunteer for a pay cut of 30%. ONLY 30%. See, its trivial little teeny weeny 30%. Its nothing. You wont even feel it. How about that director?
